My work deals with the relationship between the consumption oriented infrastructures in modern western society and the human behaviour that these infrastructures produce. My work in itself is a product of this relationship. Especially the way in which private life becomes public and vice versa holds a central role in my work; which is the way in which modern media make intimacy the public’s entertainment and an obscene mirror of excess in consumption. By showing the excess of the excess in my work I force new relationships to become the products that we produce and the way in which we are a product of these products. Do we eventually -in an ultimate fest of western decadence- consume ourselves? Is this final deed of radical overconsumption a way of self-destruction or an excessive celebration in the immaculate space of hyper sensation that seems to have replaced our public space? What do words such as ‘intimacy’ still mean in this excess?
